NW Siding is scheduled to replace my siding what happens now?

First please remove any interior wall hangings mirrors or shelving that might fall due to the vibration involved in installation. This also includes rakes or other yard tool that might be hanging in the garage that could fall on cars. Also throughout the process we will need access to the breaker box which is usually located in the garage. Some people leave the side door unlocked or pull the emergency release on the garage door opener. Next the package from the lumber yard will arrive on the day the project is scheduled to start or a few days earlier. The work crew will usually leave some equipment on site, but the site will remain clean. The defective siding will be removed and properly disposed of. At this point fences, and lighting fixtures will be removed. The new siding of the homeowners choice will be installed. Caulking will be used on the cut ends of all boards and around the windows. We will replace all corner boards, electrical wiring, and gutters each day as we finish residing an area. Painting will happen as soon after installation as weather permits.

How does the payment schedule work?

The payment terms as are stated on the bottom of your proposal are, 35% of the total when the material are delivered, 50% when the siding is installed, and the remaining 15% when the project is complete. So there are no deposits or prepayments to worry about.

Why did I receive a notice of right to lien?

Please note it is NOT a lien. The information is provided for your protection. By Oregon law any party who supplies materials or labor on you project, must provide the homeowner a notice of right to lien if that party wishes to retain the right to lien. Also know that even if you pay the contractor, the suppliers of material and labor can still put a lien on the property if the contractor doesn't pay them. To protect yourself make checks payable to both your contractor and the lumber yard, so that the material supplier must endorse the check before the contractor can deposit it.

I have L-P panels on my house what are my options for replacement?

Generally, panels are installed directly over the bare studs, this is called single wall construction. The panels are nailed to the studs. On the other side of the studs is the sheetrock, which you see on the inside of your home.

One solution is to install new panels. We remove the defective panels and install now panels of your current design

The next possible solution is to have the panels removed. NWSC will then install new 1/2" sheeting, vapor barrier, and the homeowner's selected siding. The obvious benefit being complete removal of the defective product. This procedure is more expensive than installing over the panels and, can cause damage to the interior sheetrock, including cracking and nail pops. Please allow more time for project completion, due to the nature of the labor involved in this process.
